If obesity were merely a matter of aesthetics, it would be of less concern. But obesity is a health issue. It is associated with an increased risk of diabetes, lipid abnormalities, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, certain cancers, stroke, degenerative arthritis, respiratory problems, sleep disturbances, and gallbladder disease.

If you are suffering from extra weight try Hoodia Gordonii which is very effective in fight with your appetite. Hoodia empowers your brain making you think that you have taken food and make you feel full. In older time people used Hoodia to fight hunger and thirst during long journeys in the deserts of Kalahari.
There are a variety of Hoodia plants. Only the Hoodia Gordonii class contains an active element that helps suppress your appetite.

Hoodia Gordonii is not a drug. It is absolutely an herb. In fact Hoodia is a cactus that’s causing a stir for its ability to suppress appetite and promote weight loss naturally.
This plant contains a magic molecule called as P57, which act on nerve cells like glucose molecule and make the brain feel full. A clinical research performed in Britain showed that Hoodia gordonii could reduce appetite by more than hundred of calories a day.

Hoodia Gordonii Plus

Hoodia Gordonii Plus is a natural advanced appetite suppressant, metabolism booster, fat burner and energy enhancer all in one. This is a supplement if you are looking for more than just an appetite suppresent. If you weren’t hungry all the time, you wouldn’t be tempted to snack between meals. You would find it easy to push away from the table feeling satisfied. A great deal of research is being conducted into the effects of satiety (the feeling of being full) on overeating. Hormones circulating through the body convey messages to the brain to indicate hunger of “fullness.”

Decrease Risk of Colon Cancer with Active Lifestyle

The British Journal of Cancer has just published another article confirming physically active are less likely to develop colon cancer.

Reviewing studies published through June 2008, authors of the latest article found a total of 52-articles that reviewed physical activity from manual labor, jogging, working out at the gym to brisk walking.

The review found physically active men and women were 24% less likely to develop colon cancer, regardless of on job or leisure time activity, with decreased risk remaining even after taking into account other risk factors linked to cancer, such as, diet, obesity and smoking.

US estimates reveal 108,000 new cases of colon cancer and 40,000 rectal cancer each year, with nearly 50,000 people dying each year from colon / rectal cancer, most of which are adenocarcinomas, which begin in cells that make and release mucus and other fluids.

Apart from being physically active, you can also decrease your risk of colon cancer by:

1. Eating plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains for vitamins and minerals.
2. Eating a low-fat diet, especially saturated fat, which should be avoided, especially those from animal sources like red meat. Other foods that contain saturated fat include milk, cheese, ice cream, and coconut and palm oils.
3. Limiting alcohol consumption – no more than one drink a day for women and two for men. A drink is a 4- to 5-ounce glass of wine, a 12-ounce can of beer, or a 1.5-ounce shot of 80-proof liquor.
4. Quitting smoking.
5. Getting screened

A silent killer, colon cancer is difficult to detect, but spreads quickly.

Multivitamins for menopausal & postmenopausal women

Original article

Gulping multivitamins does not lower risk of chronic diseases in menopauseal and postmenopausal women!

postmenopausal-womenThe findings of the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI), an extensive study related to the health of women in the postmenopausal period, revealed that the regular intake of multivitamins is ineffective in lowering the risk of cancer, heart attack, stroke or premature death from any cause.

The study, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, monitored 161,800 postmenopausal US women during an eight-year period to conclude that gulping vitamin supplements is futile in the face of chronic diseases, even as billions of dollars are mindlessly shelled out on them.

Nearly 42 percent of the menopaussal  and postmenopausal women observed took vitamins every day, and still had essentially the same rates of cancers – breast, ovarian, colorectal or lung cancer – cardiovascular diseases and death from any other cause, as women who did not takemultivitamins.

Researcher Marian Neuhouser, PhD, said in a news release that the fact “multivitamins did not lower the risk of the most common cancers and also had no impact on heart disease” is a “surprise” indeed; and recommended that compared to supplements, nutrients from foods are a better health alternative.

In the opinion of Andrew Shao of the Council for Responsible Nutrition, said that all dietary supplements, multivitamins included, should be used over and above a healthy lifestyle in general.

Shao said multivitamins “are not intended to be magic bullets that will assure the prevention of chronic diseases, like cancer.” (Harkiran Contributed to this report)
